Today’s tweet comes from Rep. Diana DeGette who writes

Deeply disturbed 240 of my mostly male colleagues voted to deny women access to affordable health care through planned parenthood

Now that, my friends, is a fine bit of redrawing the lines of the debate. It’s very clear that the reason why Rep. Mike Pence introduced a bill to defund Planned Parenthood and the reason why Republicans passed it is that Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the United States. Now, it’s true that public funds under Title X cannot be used to fund abortions directly but handing Planned Parenthood a ton of cash is like paying a drug addict’s rent so he has plenty of spare cash for heroin. The money we give them frees up their other funds to be able to hand out abortions.

In the social media universe today there are all kinds of women screaming today about how they can’t afford health insurance so Planned Parenthood provides them with things like pelvic exams, breast exams, and contraception. They throw around statistics that say that only 3% of the services PP provides are abortions and that only 12% of their patients receive an abortion. The percentages are a little deceiving, however, when you consider that in 2006 that “3%” equaled 289,750 abortions. That’s a lot.

So at what point do we forgive an organization committing reprehensible acts in order to allow them to do some good in the community? Would we forgive a man who only raped 12% of the women he met as long as he was a perfect gentlemen to the rest? Would we forgive a tyrannical despot who only spent 3% of his budget on genocide as long as he provided really good dental plans to the rest of his country? Either something is wrong or it isn’t. The percentages are no defense.

The other thing that’s being lost here is that if Planned Parenthood really has the goal of helping women then why are they holding all the other services they provide hostage to their abortion agenda? If things like cancer screenings and fertility counseling are really their main focus, then wouldn’t dropping abortion services in order to continue to do good in the community seem like a necessary sacrifice? Evidently not to Planned Parenthood or the women who support the legalized murder of innocents.

The accusation against the Republicans right now is that they hate women because they’re cutting health care funding. My reply is that Planned Parenthood hates women or they would not be using women’s health as a bargaining chip in their pro-abortion agenda.

In this brave new post-modern world, I often hear Christians saying something like this when it comes to the topic of abortion: “I would never get one. I would never recommend anybody else get one. But I can’t make that decision for anybody else..” The decision to snuff out a human life is such a personal thing that nobody has the right to tell someone else to stop it.

So at what point does the saving of human life become our business? If two seconds after the child is born the mother begins smacking it with a hammer, does it then become our business? I’m sure the woman has her reasons. Turn away. It’s just not our place to tell her what to do.

What about when the child is three days old? Or thirty-three? or seventy-three? Is it our business then to get involved if someone threatens to take an innocent life?

If a person wants to believe that an embryo in the womb is not a human being and has no human rights, I will disagree but I can at least respect the position as consistent. But let us not spout this nonsense that while we believe that abortion is the murder of an innocent and defenseless life, yet we must allow it to happen because it’s “none of our business” and we “can’t make that decision for someone else.”

We would not allow such a travesty of justice to happen outside of the womb nor should we deny protections to those citizens who happen to still live inside it.

There’s a horrific story coming out of Philadelphia about an abortion clinic where “doctors” in the process of committing illegal late-term abortions would cut the spinal cords of otherwise viable babies and leave them to die rather than saving them.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports in part:

Detectives from the Allegheny County district attorney’s office arrested Steven Massof, 48, at a home on Marlin Drive West in Mt. Lebanon. For the nearly five years that Mr. Massof worked at Women’s Medical Society clinic, he posed as a doctor though he did not have a medical license, according to a grand jury report.

In that time, according to the report, Mr. Massof admitted that there were about 100 instances in which he severed the spinal cords of babies who were breathing or had other signs of life.

Kermit Gosnell, the proprietor of the clinic, was charged with the deaths of one adult and seven babies in his clinic, described as a grossly unsanitary operation that doubled as a prescription drug mill.

Mr. Massof is charged with two counts of homicide and with conspiracy to commit murder for killing viable babies born alive at the clinic.

What does all this have to do with Barack Obama? Well, as it turns out, while Mr. Obama was serving as a state senator in Illinois, he “opposed legislation to protect children who are born alive, either as a result of an abortionist’s unsuccessful effort to kill them in the womb, or by the deliberate delivery of the baby prior to viability.” In other words, Obama’s record says that he thinks the horrific acts committed in Pennsylvania should be perfectly legal. If a baby somehow manages to survive the efforts to murder it in the womb, go ahead and kill it anyway. The mother shouldn’t have to to be punished with a child she doesn’t want.

Thankfully, the citizens of Pennsylvania disagree and have passed laws banning late-term abortions except for in the case of a health risk to the mother. Even in that circumstance, a second doctor is required to be present to attend to the baby when it is delivered.

I hope that the monsters of the Women’s Medical Society clinic are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I also hope that the President who supports the murder of children will either repent or be replaced by someone with a respect for all human life, no matter how frail or small.
